The Rite of Perfection

The Hall of Arcane Contemplation.

An area that is eternally silent. Never changing. Nothing.

Those who enter, those who step foot within this place, are vowed to cease of any sound. No words shall pierce the aura that surrounds this room. Instead, they are to listen, and they are to react.

The room opens, and sunlight penetrates it's once dark floors. The long hall is located at the east side of the Hikari Clan Estate. At all times, this hall is only open to one person; the leader of the Hikari clan, who is currently Natsume of direct line. The room is vast by length and leaves ample width. Today is a special day, and with the blessing of the leader, the doors will slide open for all to see. Though, while all can see, only certain people can step foot on these floors.

Rite of Perfection. The Bloodline Trial of the Hikari Clan. The last rite of passage for all Hikari members in order to reach the point of their lives in which they gain access to higher levels of combat and perfection. It is also the first step in order to acquire the Hikari's last stage of ancestral line; the Forbidden Eye's Avalon.

Before the Rite, the leader of the clan chooses those who are able, ready, and worthy to participate in the ritual. The chosen one/s is/are then given the privilege to decide if he/they wish to participate or not. Not everyone can be chosen, and it is an honour to be a participant. This event is only held once every 3 years.

Avalon is the last stage to a Hikari member's progress not only as a fighter, but as an individual. He and only he can progress. Fail, and he will never move forward.

Blown by the intensity of the Wind.

And so, this ritual... this trial... begins.

.:Hikari Ritual - Rite of Perfection:.

Participants:
Hikari, Hanshin [Jounin (Genjutsu)]
Kagurasaka Kaiser [Jounin (Genjutsu Primary and Ninjutsu)]

Participant Rules:
- When name is called, Participant will enter the Hall of Arcane Contemplation. S/he must enter on the side where the sun shines toward them as per tradition.
- Participant is limited to 2 weapons.
- Participant has no limit as to what type of weapon it is.
- Success is achieved by activation of Avalon.
- Participant must have a Support

Opponents:
Hikari, Natsume [Elite Jounin (Ninjutsu Primary and Taijutsu)]
Hikari, Hanako [Elite Jounin (Ninjutsu)] [NPC controlled by me]

Opponent Rules:
- Opponent is limited to 1 weapon
- Success is achieved by forcing participant to claim defeat before activation of Avalon
- Opponent must not use his own Avalon
- Opponent has no Support.


What is a Support?
- A Support is a person who will support the participant between the Turns, giving him first aid and occasional advice.
- A Support can be anyone the Participant so chooses. It may be another Shinobi, a wife, girlfriend, best friend... etc.


Ritual Sequence:
- All rituals will take place in the Hall of Arcane Contemplation.
- There is no time limit.
- Each ritual must be fought through "Turns." Both Participant and Opponent will fight until the Turn is over (4 posts by both participant and opponent, resulting in 8 full posts)
- When a turn is finished, the two will exit the Hall of Arcane Contemplation through opposite sides.
- The two will rest; the Participant will be aided by his Support. The Opponent will sit through Seiza (Japanese form of Sitting).
- The Support may be able to use whatever is necessary to aid and refresh the Participant.
- The next Turn will begin when the Participant declares he is ready.
- It is bad form for the Participant to keep his opponent waiting too long between Turns.
- They will continue to battle until one of three things will happen. 1) Participant activates Avalon. 2) Opponent forces Participant to declare defeat before activation of bloodline. 3) Participant or Opponent is judged unable to battle any further.

-Turn Ends. Support will be given.-

Turn 2:
Participant > Opponent > Participant > Opponent > Participant > Opponent > Participant > Opponent

-It repeats again and again until a result is declared.

The sun had slowly begun to rise, yet there was already activity within Suna.

Today was the day.

Nobles. Shinobi. Civilians. Special Guests. Many had begun to slowly occupy a large area at the east entrance of the Hikari Clan Estate. The Hikari Clan's primary Rite of Perfection for the chosen ones was to begin today. As usual, it had attracted a very large crowd of people, as the ritual was always held in public. It was also a very spiritual event, as the sacred Hall of Arcane Contemplation was to be opened for the warriors. Legend has it that praying to the hall will bring about good luck and prosperity if the one who prays is pure-hearted enough. The Hall is also a large part of History.

The Kazekage always comes to see the doors of the Hall slide open, as per tradition considering its history. It is the Kage's choice if he wishes to view the ritual, since it is not the first time he's ever seen it. But missing it would mean waiting for another 3 years.

Much talking was heard as the gate opened, and the crowd quietly entered, walking to the Hall.

Upon reaching it, they bowed and gave prayer before walking to an area near the Hall for food and drinks and fans. Today would be a hot day. But it did not stop the crowd from appearing.

It was a good day.

OOC: wha, it's today? oh yeah, i forgot, i have no support yet.. CAN ANYONE BE MY SUPPORT PLEASE???

This was it.

The sky was clear that day. It was even brighter than the past mornings of Sunagakure. Or was it? The sun hadn't even come out yet. A small tingling feeling crept down his stomach. It was like he was about to vomit. True, he is usually calm, but can he still be like his normal self if this much was at stake? He could feel the beat of his heart pounding heavily inside his chest. He could feel it desperately wanting to get out of its place.

This was it.

The Rite of Perfection. The traditional ritual which is held every 3 years. Being the chosen one was a real pleasure. He felt like he was the most important person in the clan, always looked upon by passers-by, and asked by the elders. But that was before. Now that the ritual was about to begin, he considered backing out, to quit, to just walk up to the judge and tell them that he can't do it.

But he is a Hikari. To turn back now was like staining the Hikari name his parents brought him. No. He decided he could do this. Avalon, the last stage of The Forbidden Eye. He needed it to be a good ninja, to be a good ANBU, and to be the leader of the best ANBU squad.

As he was sitting under a maple tree, a gust of wind caught some of the leaves and was gently flown towards the direction of the Hall of Contemplation far in front of where he was sitting. Looking at it from that distance was relaxing. But would it still feel the same when he, himself, is already the one standing in front of its door?

He ran his hand through the long sleeve of his clothes. He wasn't wearing his usual attire today. It's of the same style, but instead of the color black and dark blue, it's a white long flowing combat suit made of silk. It felt comfortable, made by his own mother. It would be sad seeing it stained with blood. But whose blood would it be?

He looked at the hall. In less then an hour, the sun would slip above the curved roof of the Hall of Arcane Contemplation, and then it would all begin…. He didn't care what other people think, he didn't care what other people say; all he needed to do was do it: activate Avalon.

The sun gleamed and illuminated his calm eyes, the sweet color of milk chocolate, and the gust of wind, which blew, billowed his hazel-brown hair.

Kagurasaka Kaiser had arrived.

"How exciting!" A young girl pranced along the grass, her short figure moving along the large crowd. "Hinaaa! Would you stop for a second?!" A male voice was behind her; her older brother, Yaharu, dressed in blue, grabbed her hand and yanked her out of the crowd, while their younger sister, Shinobu, clapped. "Good catch, Haru-kun!"

"It's YAHARU!!!" He snapped back, but only drawing giggles from his sisters. Hina looked around. "Shouldn't Natsume-niisan's ritual have begun?" Yaharu looked at his pocket watch. "It should have started already.. See what you two did?! We're late! They might be at the Second Turn by now!"

"W-what the..." a voice was heard through a sudden silence by the crowd, catching the attention of the three younger siblings, the crowd visibly stunned as they all crowded along the incredible long Hall.

"I....I give...."

"fuuuuu.... haaaaaaaaahhh..." The inhale and exhale of the opponent was heard.

"H-Hashin!" His support, her younger sister, shouted. She wanted to go inside the Hall, but knew it was forbidden. "Y-you can't give up! There's only a few minutes until the Turn en-"

"Silence." The younger sister's voice was quelled by the opponent as he slowly sheathed his blue-bladed katana. "The boy spoke within the Halls. You cannot retract your words if you stand inside here. Do not insult the spirits that wander and view like you do now."

"...Beaten in one Turn..." An onlooker said, watching as the participant, Hashin, sheathed his sword. His father looked down, turning his head away. "H-Hashin.. how could you quit so easil-?"

"The aura... It's too thick. I can't breathe." The participant replied to his parent. "His aura is too strong." He referred to the man in front of him, holding the hilt of his sword. Natsume Hikari slowly pulling his hair back, untying his high ponytail, letting his blue hair fall. "He's not ready yet." Natsume spoke. Hashin's sister fell into tears, crying as the two warriors exited on opposite ends, Hashin trying to embrace her sister, who whacked his hands away. "Don't touch me! You failed!"

Natsume stopped, turning his head as he stared at the girl, the small woman suddenly freezing at the sight of his eyes. "Do not mock those who stand into this hall. You insult your clan."

"I-I'm sorry...!" she quickly bowed. And Natsume smiled at Hashin, who's face looked shamed, disappointed, failing. "Learn to cut through the strongest aura." He turned his head and simply walked away, the crowd parting for him... This Natsume was serious. He never turns like this except for rituals.

...as he walked, a woman in white passed by him.

"Are you ready?" he asked

"...."

Natsume chuckled at her silence. "Ready indeed." The man walked away and sat down in a high seat overlooking the crowd as the woman walked to the Hall, stopping right in front of it.

She would wait, looking at the now-closed doors. Waiting to announce the participant.

Hikari Hanako opened her emerald eyes.


OOC: Okay,, I think we shouldn’t start until you have a support. Anyway, as you can see, you’ll be battling Hanako instead of me since Anna is the Kazekage. Goodluck. ^^,

He was still sitting under the maple tree, calming every inch of his body from trembling. He saw that. He saw everything even from that distance. The immediate defeat of Hikari Hanshin. Hanshin is a skilled ninja. And he acknowledge their levels as the same. But he was defeated in the first turn. He didn't even stand a chance. He didn't even had the chance to use his strongest techniques.

He could feel it now. The real intensity and pressure from the cheering fans and people. The sun hadn't even risen yet, and the first match had already concluded. Still an hour before his turn. He found himself gulping hugely. Will he stand a chance? After what he saw, could he still do it? Would he turn out to be just like Hanshin? Defeated in the first turn? Defeated helplessly like a pest squished by a giant foot.

Still, he let himself relax. Inhale. Exhale.

And the support hasn't even arrived yet. What if he didn't came?

The wind blew hard, billowing his clothes, his hair flying wildly around his head. Out of nowhere, a voice called out.

"Kaiser! A big problem! A big problem!"

He turned around and saw that it was a friend of his. He asked what the big problem was. "Fumikasa won't be able to come. She wanted to, but she was terribly injured. Some unknown guy attacked her last night."

He's doomed. Fumikasa was his support, but why did it turn out this way? He hung his head. What now? He just nodded, and asked to be left. Now, he was alone again. How could he ever be calm if his support won't be able to come?!

A figure, wearing a gourd strapped to his back, raised an eyebrow. The match wasn't starting, something about a support. He was unfamiliar with the Hikari clan's ritual, so he decided to attend, to learn more about the clan, as of recommendation by the Kazekage, Anna. He shuffled past the crowed, gently pushing them away. He stood at the front of the crowd, gazed at one of the Hikari's questioninly, and the nodded, allowing him to continue. He squatted down next to they ninja, and spoke quietly, whispering into his ears, his body was still, almost as if moving would shift a delecate balance.

"My name is Ketsueki Kekkon. I'm here on recommendation of Hikari Anna, the Kazekage, to come and experience her clan's customs and trials. I'd feel very dissapointed if I couldn't experience a decent fight." He said, pulling away, then winked at the ninja. " You may or may not know me, either way, I'm a skilled ninja, wise in the art of combat. I'd feel very happy if you would allow me to be your support."

He pulled away, standing up. He rubbed his right shoulder slightly. A Hikari walked up to him. He tilted his head, and unstrapped his gourd.

"Sorry for the bother, but would you mind keeping this someplace safe?" He said. The Hikari nodded. "Thankyou" The man walked away, and came back a few minutes later. He then turned to the ninja. " Don't want anyone thinking that I might cheat with my sand to tamper the fight. Don't know why they would think that." he said sarcastically. "So, you ready to get this show on the road?" he said.
